Common Good PHX

Tim and I had the joy of collaborating with our friends Eileen O’Gorman and Chris Schutte from Christ Church Anglican to gather Christians in Phoenix to consider how we can approach our vocations in light of God’s Kingdom. How can we seek the flourishing of our city through our work? How can we discover meaning in our daily work? What if we began considering ourselves as culture-makers?

We invited Andy Crouch to lead us through the story of culture, the work of culture, and the hope of culture, stirring our imaginations to consider how we can serve the common good of Phoenix through our vocations.

It was an incredibly encouraging event with some of the best panelist discussions any of us had witnessed before.

The first panel: Alice Matthews (Scholar, education administrator, and author), Josue Lopez (Worship pastor and community center director), Kristi Hickle (Clinical social worker and professor), Vermon Pierre (local pastor), and Dwight Vogt (Nonprofit leader).

The second panel: Eugene Scott (Journalist), Brad Holaway (Business owner), Liz Polen (Actress and teacher), Michael Hunter (State government), Jack DeBartolo III (Architect), Caleb Barclay (Brand developer), and Veronica Morrison (Nonprofit leader).

Spoken-word artist: Will Vucurevich
